Singing Classes

Hi! I'm Alicia, a classical singer and teacher who has just recently returned to New Zealand after spending the last seven years studying and working in the UK. I have extensive experience performing and teaching and I attained my Master of Music and Advanced Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2021.

I have taught all ages and am able to teach a wide variety of styles, always with a focus on enjoyment of the music and healthy technique. I have great knowledge of vocal physiology and treat each student uniquely, personalising exercises and song choices to the individual. I want to uncover each student's true voice and give them the confidence and skills to make their singing more comfortable and enjoyable. I always strive to make my lessons fun and challenging, and encourage students to sing what they enjoy.

For younger children, there is an emphasis on building confidence, learning the foundational skills needed for singing and performing, and basic musicianship. For young adults and adult students, once we have covered the basics we can delve into the intricacies of vocal technique and stylistic nuances. I believe everyone has the ability to sing and improve their voice!

I also offer beginner to intermediate piano lessons where students will learn proper piano technique alongside basic music theory.

When I'm not singing or teaching, you'll probably find me looking after my 2 year old son or doing some baking, cross stitch or reading!
