Step into the world of drama and discover the power of role-play to create, understand and communicate.
Unlike a typical performance class, our focus is on the process – learning the conventions of drama to explore characters, themes and stories. It's not just about "putting on a play"; it is about building a toolkit of skills that allow students to express complex ideas and collaborate effectively.
In this class, students will:
- 🛠️ Learn drama conventions – Use techniques like freeze frames, mime, internal dialogue and choral work to create engaging performances.
- 🤝 Collaborate and devise – Work as a team to explore themes and create original scenes, mixing teacher guidance with their own creative input.
- ⚡ Think on their feet – Build spontaneity, focus and confidence through high-energy improvisation games.
- 🗣️ Find their voice – Learn to project clearly, manage nerves and develop stage presence to hold an audience's attention.
✍️ A note for storytellers
Many students combine this class with Writing Club earlier in the afternoon! It's the perfect way to turn a love of stories into a full afternoon of creativity.
